Antônio Marcos Santana, commonly known as Marcos “Ratinho” is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black
belt under Ricardo Vieira. An accomplished athlete with important wins in jiu-jitsu as well
as mixed martial arts (MMA) under ONE FC’s promotion.
Marcos was born on August 15,
1986 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2012 Marcos moved to UAE to work with the UAE Armed
Forces & Presidential Guard teaching Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense.
In 2015 Marcos went
to Singapore to visit a friend and train with him at the Evolve MMA gym. Evolve’s owner
Chatri Sityodtong offered him to become part of the MMA team. Sityodtong was also the
chairman of ONE Championship, offering Marcos the opportunity to debut in mixed martial arts
for the promotion, a debut won by the Brazilian athlete with a tight guillotine during the
first round. In Singapore, Marcos met the sports legend Roger Gracie.
Two years later,
in 2017 Marcos was invited by the Ministry of the Interior to return to the UAE to start a
new project, Coaching and leading the UAE National Police Team, preparing them for the most
important National and International Tournaments, as well, working on the implementation,
coordination and supervision of the Jiu-Jitsu, MMA and Self-Defense Programs as a required
Academic Discipline and part of the Police Physical Fitness and Self Defense Program in the
whole country.
